VFILES Runway

Vfiles F/W ’16 was taken place at Spring Studios this past fashion week, possibly their wildest show ever, I couldn’t miss mentioning it! The show had literally a concert vibe with a surprise performance by Tyga and live spins by A-Trak. This was by far the sickest show I attended this season. Vfiles is such an eclectic and cool brand. It is completely youth driven and created. Each season this brand not only debuts their own line, but puts a spotlight on a series of rising designers who are chosen through their online seasonal competition. So the show is essentially run by newly discovered talented designers, stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, models, photographers and basically all other positions needed to run a show based on their submitted creations (V File). “A Vfile is whatever you want it to be: a portfolio, a moodboard, a curated edit, a trendboard, a set of images that express something particular, just cool stuff, whatever.” The website has really almost become another social media platform, with each member creating a profile adding posts or boards ( similar to pinterest) , or known on the website as a Vfile.  There were four different designers whose clothing were shown for F/W including OTTOLINGER, Kim Shui, Hardeman, and Anton Belinskiy. Congratulations!

Beauty Bit:

VFILES took New York Fashion Week by storm with a parade of brazen patterns and sheer getups. To complement their couture, the designers made a bold beauty statement with daring lip shades from navy to emerald.

Saturated Bordeaux was paired with brilliant blue to create an artistic duo-tone pucker that instantly turned heads. But you don’t have to be a model to rock this dramatic beauty trend. GLAMSQUAD Director of Makeup Artistry, Kelli Bartlett, has the tips and tricks you need to pull off an out-of-the-box lip color like a pro.

Below are Kelli’s 3 key steps to create the perfect bold lip: Prep, Paint and Perfect

The bright (e1455647439336ven electric) statement lip trend works best when paired with barely-there, hyper-real skin. The lip is the star of the show, with eyes sometimes even forgoing mascara. An au naturel complexion paired with a hot lip attracts focus and can give any look an easy, instant cool factor. Past runways played with pairing a bold lip with another strong, statement feature, and the VFILES show really goes back to the idea of choosing the lip as the focal point and making it pop. Too many competing features can take away from the impact of the entire look.

Step 1– PREP: First, go around the mouth with a concealer that’s the exact same tone as your skin. You don’t want a weird light ring around the mouth if you choose the wrong shade. Follow with a generous amount of hydrating lip primer such as Mary Kay’s Timewise Age-Fighting Lip Primer, taking care to apply with precision, as the lipstick will stick where you place the primer, smush your lips together to distribute it evenly.

Step 2: PAINT: Pick your pout color. I like a matte color that comes in liquid form so you get 100% full coverage, and I always tell women to oversaturate the brush (try Makeup Forever’s 226 Brush). Use the edge of your brush, so you have more control along the bow of the lip. Opt for a square brush to ensure a really crisp and exact line. For the bottom of the lips, draw toward the fleshiest part in the center. When using liquid matte color such as Hourglass Opaque Liquid Lipstick, you can really get the full coverage you want.

Step 3: PERFECT: Does your handiwork appear fuller on one side and slimmer on the other? Did you miss a spot? Just adjust, even out, and perfect.
